Carp fishing around new york city?
I am new to carp fishing and after looking at a lot of videos online and reading plenty of stuff on the matter I would like to try my luck and catch some carp. Does anyone know any lakes that have large carp around new york city, lets say in a 50 miles radius? I would appreciate any answers and tight lines to all.
The ponds in Central Park have Carp in them.

Torsa Cams Chunk Fishing Special $49.99 Torsa Cams Chunk Fishing Special The amount of drag that is increased or decreased when the drag lever is moved can be easily described as the ?drag curve.? Most drag curves throughout the fishing reel industry are very similar: a gradual increase in drag pressure from the freespool position to the full position. While a standard curve is excellent for many mainstream fisheries, the shape of the curve is not adjustable. Therefore, in order to ?fish outside of the box,? such as with light lines or to target specific fish, anglers were forced to evolve their techniques and style around the tackle available to them. No longer. With the new Rapid Fire Quick Change Drag Cam System found exclusively on Torsa, this versatile reel can change to cater to specific techniques. By simply putting the reel into freespool and backing off the preset knob, the angler removes the drag cam from the reel. Then, by inserting one of 8 available Rapid Fire drag cams, you completely change how the reel is set up to fish within a matter of seconds. No tools required, and no screws to fall onto the deck of the boat. There are 8 different drag curves and specific fisheries they are applicable to. |

Excerpt: Allentown, Pennsylvania – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The area that is today the center of Allentown was laid out as Northampton Town in 1762 by William Allen, a wealthy shipping merchant, former mayor of the city of Philadelphia and then-Chief Justice of the Province of Pennsylvania. The property was part of a 5,000-acre (20 km) plot Allen purchased on September 10, 1735 from his business partner Joseph Turner, who was assigned the warrant to the land by Thomas Penn, son of William Penn, on May 18, 1732. The tract was originally surveyed on November 23, 1736. A subsequent survey done in 1753 by David Schultz for a road from Easton to Reading, of which present-day Union and Jackson streets were links, shows the location of log house owned by Allen, situated near the western bank of the Jordan Creek, which was believed to have been built around 1740. Used primarily as a hunting and fishing lodge, here Allen entertained prominent guests including his brother-in-law, James Hamilton, and colonial governor John Penn. The original plan for the town, now in the archives of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, comprised forty-two city blocks and consisted of 756 lots, mostly 60 feet (18 m) in width and 230 feet (70 m) in depth. The town was located between present-day Fourth and Tenth Streets, and Union and Liberty Streets. Many streets on the original plan were named for Allen’s children: Margaret (present-day Fifth Street), William (now Sixth), James (now Eighth), Ann (now Ninth) and John (now Walnut). Allen Street (now Seventh) was named for Allen himself, and was the main thoroughfare. Hamilton Street was named for James Hamilton. Gordon Street was named for Sir Patrick Gordon, Deputy Governor of Colonial Pennsylvania from 1726-1736. Chew… More: |

A Christmas to Remember $9.99 A Christmas To Remember celebrates life and the human spirit. The location and its lively menagerie of characters were inspired and created from some of my childhood experiences and family stories told to me by my father and grandparents about “the good old days,” when the world was kinder… when girls wore dresses and boys donned hats… when times were unsettling yet delightful. My father Daniel J. Harty was born in Barre, Massachusetts on February 26, 1929 an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed fishing and trapping and was passionate about saving our environment. During one of my visits in 1999 we drove and meandered around his memory lanes of Barre. He stated, “Nothing has changed much from my childhood memories; with the exception of paved roads.” Rosie’s determined spirit, unwavering faith, incredible endurance and courage brings family, friends, and community together in circle with the sole intention and purpose to co-create and help the Achtmeyers in any way they are able. |

A Seal in the Family $44.83 One summer day while Teelo the cat waits on the beach of his Cloud Island home, he hears a strange and sad crying noise – and it appears to be coming from a rock! Teelo investigates and is shocked when the rock moves. It isn’t a rock after all, but a young seal pup with beautiful brown eyes and a gray speckled coat. When Victor arrives home he assures Teelo that the pup’s mother is only out fishing and will return soon. Yet that night, while Victor and his unique family are cozy in their house, Teelo can still hear the lonely cries of the seal pup drifting up from the beach. The next evening the pup is still alone on the beach and Victor decides she must come to live in his house. But in a home crowded with a cat, a dog, hens, a rooster, a parrot, a snake and a man, it is hard to find a place to put a seal! They finally decide that the bathtub will make a good spot and that Lucille will make a good name. Victor spends much of his time catching fish to feed the rapidly growing seal and to keep her plaintive cries at bay. When Lucille is old enough, Victor decides it is time to return her to the sea – but she is terrified of the now unfamiliar ocean. Victor devises a clever trick to get Lucille swimming again and soon she is splashing around where she belongs. The house seems quieter now and Teelo wonders if he will ever see his friend again. Several summers pass and then Teelo hears that same sad crying that first introduced Lucille to him. It is another seal pup! Lucille has brought her own baby to the beach that she knows is friendly. This story is based on a real seal that Maria Coffey knew. A photograph of her, and information and speculation on the mystery ofwhere she came from, are included at the back of the book. |

Abundance, recruitment, and environmental forcing of Kodiak red king crab. $49.99 Commercial harvests of red king crab Paralithodes camtschaticus around Kodiak Island, Alaska increased rapidly in the 1960s to a peak of 42,800 mt in 1965. Stock abundance declined sharply in the late 1960s, moderated in the 1970s, and crashed in the early 1980s. The stock has not recovered despite a commercial fishery closure since 1983. To better understand the rise, collapse, and continued depleted status of the red king crab stock around Kodiak Island, I conducted a retrospective analysis with three primary objectives: (1) reconstruct spawning stock abundance and recruitment during 1960-2004; (2) explore stock-recruit relationships; and (3) examine ecological influences on crab recruitment.;A population dynamics model was used to estimate abundance, recruitment, and fishing and natural mortalities. Three male and four female “stages” were estimated using catch composition data from the fishery (1960-1982) and pot (1972-1986) and trawl (1986-2004) surveys. Male abundance was estimated for 1960-2004, but limited data constrained female estimates to 1972-2004. Strong crab recruitment facilitated increased fishery capitalization during the 1960s, but the high harvest rates were not sustainable, likely due to reproductive failure associated with sex ratios skewed toward females.;To examine spawner-recruitment (S-R) relationships for the Kodiak stock, I considered lags of 5-8 years between reproduction and recruitment and, due to limited female data, two currencies of male abundance as a proxy for spawners: (1) all males ≥125 mm carapace length (CL); and (2) legal males (≥145 mm CL). Model selection involved AICc, the Akaike Information Criterion corrected for small sample size. An autocorrelated Ricker model using all males and a 5-year lag, with the time series separated into three productivity periods corresponding to different ecological regimes, minimized AIC c values. Depensation at low stock sizes was not detected.;Potential effects of selected biotic |

Amarcord $12.99 Beloved teacher and bestselling cookbook author Marcella Hazan tells how a young girl raised in Emilia-Romagna became America’s godmother of Italian cooking Widely credited with introducing proper Italian food to the English-speaking world, Marcella Hazan is as authentic as they come. Raised in Cesenatico, a quiet fishing town on the northern Adriatic Sea, she’s eventually have her own cooking schools in New York, Bologna, and Venice and teach students from around the world to appreciate and produce the food that native Italians eat. She’d write bestselling and award-winning cookbooks, collect invitations to cook at top restaurants, and have thousands of loyal students and readers. When Marcella met the love of her life, Victor, they married and moved to New York City. She knew not a word of English or-what’s more surprising-a single recipe. She longed for the flavors of her homeland and attempted to re-create them. One day Craig Claiborne invited himself to lunch, and the rest is history. Amarcord means “I remember” in Marcella’s native Romagnolo dialect. In these pages, Marcella looks back on the adventures of a life lived for pleasure and a love of teaching. Throughout, she entertains the reader with stories of the twists and turns that brought her love, fame and a chance to change the way we eat forever. |

American Waters: Fly-Fishing Journeys of a Native Son $1.99 Peter Kaminsky didn’t know a fly rod from a hot rod back in 1974 when, while vacationing in the Florida Keys, he landed his bait right under the nose of a 35-pound grouper. At that life-changing moment, he was hooked on fishing. In the three decades since, the New York Times outdoors columnist has fished his way across his native land, discovering America-and himself-through his passion for angling. In American Waters, Kaminsky shares in lyrical prose his fly-fishing journeys around what he calls “the fishingest country on earth.” From the Ozarks to the Everglades, from the Brooklyn waterfront to Yellowstone, from the bountiful riptides of Montauk Point to the spring creeks of Montana, Kaminsky has fished the best. Whether he is pursuing tarpon in the Marquesas, smallmouth in the Ozarks, or the albacore of Cape Fear, the fishing tales recounted here convey the simple joy, timelessness, grace, and beauty that are to be found casting a fly rod. |

Anti-frogman techniques $48 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Anti-frogman techniques are security methods developed to protect watercraft, ports and installations, and other sensitive resources both in or nearby vulnerable waterways from potential threats or intrusions by frogmen or other divers. In World War II this need for military underwater security was first shown by the achievements of frogmen against armed forces facilitie, see for example Italian frogman actions in WWII. Since the late 1950s, the increasing demand for and availability of sophisticated scuba diving equipment has also created concerns about protecting valuable underwater archaeology sites and shellfish fishing stocks. The 12 October 2000 USS Cole bombing was not carried out by underwater divers, but did bring renewed attention to the vulnerability they present for naval ships. Divers can swim 100 to 200 yards in three minutes time, and large sonar ranges would need to be established around ships in order for security forces to detect underwater swimmers in time to make a sufficient response. |

Babylon By the Sea $21.99 Babylon by the Sea focuses on a seaside community that, once rich in salt marshes, attracted many of the area’s first settlers. Originally called Sumpawam, it was purchased from Native Americans in 1670. The township was formed from South Huntington and named Babylon in 1802 by Mrs. Conklin, a staunch advocate of the Bible. Babylon includes the villages of Lindenhurst and Amityville, and the hamlets of North and West Babylon, Copaigue, Deer Park, Farmingdale, and Wyandanch. This vibrant community evolved from a humble beginning of farming, fishing, and whaling into an attractive resort community. The area was unknown until the nearby barrier beach, Fire Island, gained prominence as a summer resort. The South Shore line of the Long Island Railroad gave the seaside locality impetus when the train reached Babylon in 1867. Hotels and boardinghouses sprang up around town and beside the sea. Among the pleasure seekers were many wealthy New Yorkers who came in quest of the invigorating air and relaxation outside the city. The trip from New York took just over an hour; a trolley would meet the visitors and transport them to the Great South Bay. For many years, the South Shore Railroad was the only electrified train, and Babylon became the point of convergence for travelers bent on speed. The village also witnessed the birth of radio and wireless communication when Marconi contacted ships at sea from Babylon. |
